I Throw Myself At Men by Lilly McElroy

“For this project I went to a lot of bars and I literally threw myself at men who I didn’t know. I used my body as a projectile, hurling myself toward strong, vulnerable men who were waiting to catch me. Poised in a perpetual state of social awkwardness and in full possession of the ability to subvert stereotypical gender roles, the photographs pose questions concerning relationships, social connection, sex, gender, and the desire to form relationships quickly that are both intense and long lasting.
The project initially started after I placed ads on Craigslist.org looking for men who would meet me blind date style in bars and allow me to throw myself at them. This project comes from a place where the desire to make a positive connection with another person is coupled with the knowledge that a connection might not be possible, that the person might not catch me.”

She’s cool. I don’t care if is “tooooooooo commercial” “tooooooo” something else. I like her mood, her imaginary world. And i am not talking about the music (still haven’t listen to the new album, Ceremonials).Probably also that good old guy, Karl Lagerfeld, likes her a lot, since he invited her to Paris to perform out of a shimmering oyster shell at Chanel’s S/S12 show. Nice nice!

Lena Wolff is a mixed-media artist, and that’s probably what makes her works so nice and appealing. I just love her compositions and abstractions, tones and materials. Have a look!

Eat Your Heart Out

Another good thing from Cape Town was our days fat Doreen’s flat. Jade De Waal, her daughter has an on going project called “Eat your Heart Out”, here you can see her in action and take some inspiration for your winter nights’ dinners! This is how they describe themselves “Eat Your Heart Out hosts food jams for people who have lil’ time, lil’ money and lil’ equipment, join in!”. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicccccccce!
